Finance Assistant

We're recruiting for a finance assistant with a keen eye for detail along with a diligent and conscientious approach.

We use Xero (a cloud-based accounting software) so any experience would be beneficial. If not, you’d be a keen software adopter who has the right mindset for simpler processing and intelligent working. We need your trusted, careful attention to detail to support our management accountant, you will be a key member of the finance team. You'll be responsible for the company’s many transactions, ensuring everything is handled on time, correctly and reliably, enabling our management accountant to create accurate management reports and work on our financial strategy.

  • 2+ years’ experience in accounting or bookkeeping
  • AAT qualifications are desirable or strong, industry-related experience
  • Experience of the construction industry and CIS is beneficial
  • Manufacturing industry experience is an advantage
  • Payroll experience
  • Experience in Xero - or the mindset for cloud-based accounting
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel
  • Customer relationship experience

  • Support the management accountant by processing the transactions of a £6M turnover business, growing to £10M (and beyond)
  • Speak directly with customers and provide exceptional customer service
  • Work with our office and workshop/warehouse employees as well as our installers (employed and subcontracted)
  • Liaise with suppliers
  • Sales invoicing and credit control
  • Process purchases
  • Reconcile bank transactions
  • Bank payments
  • Payroll and expenses for over 40 staff
  • Installer payments and CIS deductions
  • Complete VAT and tax returns
  • Cash flow statements
  • Foreign payments
  • Work with multiple legal entities

Contract Type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £20,000 - £25,000
Holiday Entitlement: 20 days per annum plus bank holidays (with a Christmas shutdown bonus scheme)
Bonus: Company bonus scheme
Hours per week: 40 hours
Start Date: ASAP
