Etchells Primary School’s Trim Trail

Extending Physical Play Opportunities With A Magnificent Trim Trail

Our sales director, Paul Bayliss, worked closely with the deputy headteacher Jo Mallinson at Etchells Primary School, situated in Cheadle, to install a new bespoke trim trail.

Beforehand, the school had a huge trim trail spanning the tree line of the school grounds. However, the school felt that the equipment had become very tired and lacked challenge.

Paul worked alongside the school to remove the existing equipment and replace it with an exciting, bespoke trim trail for the children, that would not only extend the physical play opportunities further than before but would also promote exercise, communication, language, teamwork and physical development.

Trim Trail Equipment

Paul and Jo together chose a huge, energetic selection of equipment to meet the requirements, including:

  • Log Weaver
  • Swinging Log Traverse
  • Mini Balance Beam
  • Trapeze Swing Traverse with Step Up Logs
  • Large Stepping Log
  • Clatter Bridge
  • Mini Balance Beam
  • Net Traverse
  • Inclined Balance Beam
  • Climbing Poles
  • Linked Beams
  • Parallel Rope Traverse
  • Mini Balance Beam
  • Rope Swing Traverse
  • Walk and Stretch

School Trim Trail

With such an impressive combination of apparatus, a group challenge has been created, which not only provides the children with the opportunity of developing their key physical skills and improving their overall body strength, but also enables skills such as co-operation, competition and imaginative play to be developed: contributing towards the children’s communication, language and social skills.

As the new trail is progressively challenging, the children’s climbing confidence is increasing as they complete the challenge they were once hesitant about. This has been brought back into the classroom, with teachers hearing less of “I can’t do it”.

As a result of this, the new equipment is contributing towards the children’s attainment, too, as they want to feel the same sense of achievement they felt outdoors back in the classroom.
