I am a new member of the Pentagon Play team warmly welcomed in during August 2018, previously working with a sports coaching company delivering inclusive PE across primary schools in Bedfordshire. I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a second class 1st division degree in Physical Education which has also lead me to teach PE in a local secondary school in Bedford.
I truly believe there is a sport or activity out there for everyone to love and enjoy. I experienced this during school when I was offered the opportunity by my year 8 science teacher to play for the handball team, I was never a ‘sporty’ child at school, but this gave me an opportunity to participate in physical activity that I loved. Since then, highlights have included playing for Great Britain Handball at under 18 level (only injury stopped me going further), and most recently managing England's under 16 Handball team.
I was given this opportunity at school and it provided me with an amazing experience in later life, my ambition now is to provide opportunities for children in schools to develop their experiences at a young age to create experiences in their later lives. Pentagon Play is where I believe I can fulfil this ambition.
Other aspects of my life revolve around family, friends, work and sport; sporting passions involve playing golf, football and squash, admittedly not to a very good standard… however, it’s all about playing with a smile on your face and taking part – something very relatable to the projects I look forward to creating.
