After graduating from Bangor University with a 2:1 in Product Design, Charlie was searching for a creative role that combined problem solving with hands-on design. When he discovered Pentagon Play, it felt almost too good to be true. Since then, he’s helped hundreds of schools, nurseries and commercial settings bring their playground visions to life through stunning visuals and carefully crafted plans.
From the first sketch to the final ops plan, Charlie thrives on the variety of his role and takes pride in knowing that each design he creates will inspire children for generations to come. His passion for problem solving, creativity and detail has made him a vital part of the design team (and he’s also well known for rocking Pentagon Play’s best moustache)!

A Bit About Me!
When I was younger I dreamed of becoming an archaeologist just like Indiana Jones, but I soon realised most of the great discoveries had already been made. Instead I found my passion in problem solving and creativity, thriving most in hands-on environments where I could really get stuck in.
Sport has always been a big part of my life. If I’m not out on the tennis courts or running half marathons, you’ll find me cheering on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. I still remember my very first game, away at Liverpool on the opening day of the 2011/12 season. The match finished 1–1 and Sebastian Larsson’s stunning volley made him my instant favourite player.
I’ve had some amazing adventures too, like the time I found myself surrounded by five kangaroos while feeding them in Australia. And when it came to the playground, nothing could beat a climbing frame. The bigger the challenge, the more I loved it!
My Work at Pentagon Play
At Pentagon Play I get to work on everything from the very first design right through to the final ops plan, which certainly keeps me busy. What I love most is creating stunning visuals that children can get excited about. Knowing that something I design today could benefit future generations inspires me to make each project just as good as the last!
