With a background in teaching and languages, Tara brings creativity, energy and a passion for education to her role as an Outdoor Learning Advisor at Pentagon Play. After seven years as a Primary Teacher, she wanted a new career where she could continue to make an impact on children’s lives. At Pentagon, she loves being part of the journey from a school’s first ideas to seeing their playground vision come to life, whether it is a small development or a complete transformation.
Tara is especially inspired by designs created by pupils, as she remembers her own school playground having no equipment. Seeing the difference play spaces make to children’s happiness and learning is what motivates her every day. Alongside her role, she values the support, laughter and team spirit in the office, complete with regular Starbucks trips and even a book club.

A Bit About Me!
When I was younger, I wanted to be a vet because I thought it meant playing with animals all day. Around the same time, I was also waiting for my Hogwarts letter, convinced I was destined to become a wizard. I am still waiting, so I am guessing it was just lost in the post.
I first joined Pentagon in the HR team but was loaned to Sales to help out when extra support was needed. I got on really well with the team, enjoyed the role and was delighted when they asked me to stay.
Outside of work, I am a qualified Pole Fitness Instructor and teach dance classes a couple of nights a week. I also train myself and enjoy relaxing with my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Perry. Most evenings you will find me curled up with him, reading on my Kindle and working towards my reading goal. My fondest childhood memories are spending time with my nan before I started school, going on day trips, feeding the ducks and watching The Lion King on repeat while eating cucumber sandwiches and crisps.
When it comes to playground memories, swings were always my favourite. I loved seeing how high I could go and jumping off because it felt like flying.
My Work at Pentagon Play
On a typical day, I respond to emails and enquiries from schools and other organisations, arranging meetings with our Sales Consultants to discuss new playground projects. I also check in with my team to make sure all enquiries are covered and passed to the right people. As most of my day is spent on the phone, I enjoy stretching my legs with a lunchtime walk or sometimes heading out for a Starbucks with the team.
