Sam is the brains behind many of Pentagon Play’s digital systems. As Head of Internal Software Engineering, he leads the development of the custom tools that keep our business running smoothly. From complex project management software to internal communication platforms, Sam’s work empowers every department to perform at their best.
With a strong technical background and a creative edge, Sam has played a key role in building Pentagon’s internal systems from the ground up. His work helps streamline everything from sales to design to installation – freeing up more time and energy to focus on what we do best: creating incredible outdoor spaces for children.

A Bit About Me!
I was born in Manchester and spent my early years in the city before moving to Poynton in Cheshire at the age of nine. I’ve always had a mix of creative and technical interests, with both my parents are both classical musicians, so music was a big part of my childhood. I learned to play the piano and violin, and I loved composing pieces of music and imagining them in film soundtracks.
At the same time, I was fascinated by computing and video games. I loved the idea of building my own games and understanding how things work behind the scenes. My favourite subjects at school were music, computing, maths, and physics (anything that let me combine problem-solving with creativity.).
Joining Pentagon Play was a turning point. Over the years, I’ve helped design and build bespoke software that underpins the entire business. It’s been a fantastic journey, and I love working with such a passionate and talented team. Every project is a new challenge, and knowing that our work ultimately supports outdoor learning for children makes it all the more rewarding.
Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my wife and young daughter, and chasing after our two energetic springer spaniels in the Peak District! I’m a big travel enthusiast too. I’ve explored much of Europe (34 countries and counting!) and have had unforgettable adventures in places like Nepal, Egypt, China, and Australia.
