Lights, Camera, Play! Our Debut on The Dyers' Caravan Park!
We have installed play areas at some incredible sites across the UK, but nothing quite prepared us for the moment our work (and our team) ended up on primetime television. Here is the full, behind the scenes story of how Pentagon Play found itself on Sky's biggest show of the year.
If you haven't caught The Dyers' Caravan Park yet, here is the short version. EastEnders legend Danny Dyer and his daughter Dani have invested in Priory Hill and Nutts Farm on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, with a mission to bring the Great British holiday roaring back to life.
The series launched earlier this year and became Sky's biggest entertainment debut in five years, with a second series already commissioned before the first had even finished airing. Safe to say, a lot of people are watching.
And somewhere in the middle of all that warmth, ambition, and Danny Dyer being Danny Dyer...Pentagon Play was there. We were chosen to design and install a brand new play area at Priory Hill as part of the Dyers' vision for the park, and it is a project we are incredibly proud of!

The behind the scenes story
What you see on screen is always just a small window into everything that goes on behind the scenes. Our Commercial Sales Manager, Mike Clark, led the project from the very first site visit.
Between the consultations, the planning process, the manufacturing sprint, and the filming schedule, it was quite the adventure from start to finish.
Brochures, bar stools, and big ideas
Mike's involvement started with an initial consultation at the park. Fittingly, it took place in the bar, where he sat down with the team to really understand what the Dyers were looking for.
What did they want the space to feel like? Who was it for? What would make it genuinely special for the families visiting Priory Hill? Getting under the skin of a project is something we always prioritise, and this was no different, cameras or no cameras.

From there, it was out to measure the site. Mike also flagged early on that the originally proposed location sat around 20 metres from the nearest chalet front door, and advised the team to consult with residents before pressing ahead. Getting the location right is just as important as getting the equipment right, and that is the kind of detail that makes a real difference to a project's success.
Then came one of the highlights of the whole process. Dani sat with Mike and went through our brochures, page by page, picking out everything she loved. By the end of the session, she had put together a wish list of equipment to the tune of around £70,000.
While that was happening, Mike was producing scaled drawings on site, mapping out the chosen equipment on the measured footprint. That footprint was measured approximately 19 times (filmed from every conceivable angle along the way) but when the end result is a play area that families will enjoy for years to come, it is absolutely worth it.

Planning, patience, and a four week sprint
Before a single piece of equipment could go in the ground, planning consent needed to be addressed. Mike and the team supported Priory Hill by advising them to seek guidance from the local council, and provided scaled drawings, elevation drawings, and written documentation to support the application.
It is the kind of detail focused work that is not glamorous, but it is a vital part of delivering a project properly and something we handle as standard.

Once the green light came, the clock was ticking. With the filming schedule locked in, we had just four weeks from order to completed installation. Four weeks to manufacture everything, mobilise our teams, and deliver a finished play area on site. The Pentagon Play ops team absolutely rose to the occasion to make it happen.
The installation — a brilliant team effort
To hit the deadline, we brought in our installation crew from the North East and drafted in a second team to support during the final two days. These are the people who rarely make it onto the TV screen, but who are the heartbeat of everything we do on site.
They worked long hours, adapted brilliantly to the unique demands of a live filming environment, and delivered a finished space to be genuinely proud of.

The final filming day gave everyone a real taste of what working in television is like, including a request to reimagine the site so the cameras could capture the Dyers arriving at the beginning of the install rather than the end. Mike even rearranged a family holiday to make sure he was there on the day. Now that is dedication.
Danny himself got stuck in during the installation, which made for a brilliant moment on screen, and the teams had a great time working alongside the Dyers and the production crew throughout. It was a genuinely memorable experience and one we are already looking forward to building on.
The finished play area
The completed space features a play tower, a basket swing, and a range of interactive play features, all designed to keep younger guests entertained and adventuring for hours. The centrepiece? The one and only Dyers Den. A full case study is on its way with everything you need to know about the project in detail.
A huge thank you to everyone who made this project happen. Our North East installation crew and the additional team who came in for the final push, you were magnificent. Our marketing team for the inspired touch of branded hard hats and hi viz vests complete with "Big Danny" and "Little Dani" on the back. And our ops team for pulling off an extraordinary four week turnaround. This was Pentagon Play at its very best.

What this means for the holiday park sector
The Dyers' story is a brilliant reflection of the opportunity that exists in the UK holiday park sector right now. With millions of families choosing to holiday closer to home, the parks that invest in standout experiences (the kind that make guests stay longer, return year after year, and recommend to friends) are the ones that truly flourish.

A well designed play area is not just a nice to have. It is a reason for families to choose your park over the competition. It keeps younger guests engaged, gives parents peace of mind, and creates the kind of memories that keep people coming back. The Dyers understood that, which is exactly why the playground was central to their vision for Priory Hill from day one.
If you are a holiday park or campsite owner thinking about what your next investment should look like, we would love to have that conversation. No cameras required, though after all this, we are certainly not ruling it out.
Stay tuned for our full Priory Hill case study, coming soon. And if you want to chat about your site in the meantime, Mike and the team are ready and waiting.
