As our Senior Software Developer, he works across departments to create tools that streamline internal processes, enhance user experience, and support the wider team in delivering fantastic playgrounds for schools and nurseries across the country.
With a background in music and a lifelong passion for tech, David brings creativity and precision to every project. Whether he’s building powerful backend systems or designing intuitive user interfaces, his mission is simple: to help the team work smarter, communicate better, and bring even more imagination to the outdoor spaces we create.

A Bit About Me
I was born in Manchester and spent most of my childhood in Poynton, Cheshire, before heading back into the city at 13 to study music. For a long time, I thought I’d become a professional cellist. I even played in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest finals when I was 12! (We came last… but the singer, Jack Garratt, has gone on to great things!)
Although music was a big part of my life, I’ve always loved technology. I started making computer games and software with my brother before I was 10. My favourite subjects were always computing and music tech (pretty much anything hands-on and problem-solving). That curiosity has never left me.
Now, as a software engineer at Pentagon, I get to use that same passion to improve the way we work across every department. I love seeing how the playgrounds we design positively impact children’s lives, and it’s a real privilege to play a part in that behind the scenes.
Outside of work, I’m a keen traveller, filmmaker and musician. I’m fascinated by other cultures and always looking for new perspectives to bring back and apply in creative ways (whether that’s in software, music or everyday life).
My Work at Pentagon Play
As the Senior Software Developer, I work closely with teams across the business to build digital tools and systems that make everything run more smoothly. From front-end interfaces to powerful workflow automation, I focus on creating solutions that help my colleagues collaborate better and ultimately give them more time and energy to focus on designing outstanding play spaces. It’s a technical role with a very human impact, and that’s what I love about it!
