Ellen is one of the brilliant minds behind Pentagon Play’s ever-evolving product range. As a Senior Product Designer, she’s responsible for developing innovative, educational, and exciting outdoor play equipment for schools and nurseries across the UK. From reimagining existing products to crafting brand-new designs, Ellen plays a key role in ensuring every Pentagon piece delivers fun, functionality, and learning value.
With a background in engineering and a love for creativity, Ellen blends technical knowledge with artistic flair. Her designs are thoughtful, imaginative, and always focused on enhancing children’s development through play. Whether she’s sketching out a new idea or refining an old favourite, Ellen approaches each project with care and curiosity.

A Bit About Me!
I joined Pentagon Play in December 2018, and I’ve loved every minute of helping shape our incredible product range. My role involves keeping our existing designs fresh and exciting, as well as developing new products that help children learn through play.
I studied Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering at university, where I tackled a wide variety of challenges, from medical devices to sports safety gear for kids. That blend of creative and technical problem-solving is something I still thrive on today. It’s a joy to combine engineering know-how with my love for art and music, and to channel it all into designing play equipment that inspires young minds.
Outside of work, I’m usually outdoors – exploring the mountains, browsing local charity shops, or experimenting with fabric dyes (blue is my go-to shade!). I believe that children learn best when they’re having fun, being creative, and feeling free to explore, and that’s exactly what I aim to support through my designs!

As a Senior Product Designer, I work closely with the wider product and production teams to reimagine existing designs and bring brand-new ideas to life. Whether it’s updating our best-loved resources or launching a whole new collection, I focus on creating safe, inclusive, and imaginative products that support every stage of a child’s learning journey.
