Ian Wood is our passionate and energetic Regional Sales Manager for the North West, specifically covering Cheshire and Merseyside. With a background deeply rooted in sport and a love of outdoor learning, Ian brings enthusiasm, dedication, and hands-on knowledge to every school he supports. He specialises in helping schools across the region design purposeful, engaging, and inclusive outdoor spaces that inspire movement, curiosity, and creativity.
Ian’s strong belief in the importance of physical development, especially from an early age, drives everything he does. From imaginative EYFS outdoor areas to sports zones that ignite a love of movement, Ian works closely with each setting to ensure their playground is both educational and exciting.

A Bit About Me!
I grew up in Wales and spent my early years on my Nan and Granddad’s farm, surrounded by animals, tractors, and diggers (a young boy’s dream!). Every summer, I stayed with family just outside Naples, Italy, which gave me an amazing insight into different cultures from a young age.
As a child, I was completely obsessed with sport. I dreamt of becoming a professional footballer and even wrote to all the football league clubs asking for trials! I made it to the top 50 boys in Wales at age 14, just missing out on the final squad for a televised tournament called the Victory Shield.
PE was my favourite subject at school by far! I represented my school in football, rugby, cricket, hockey, and athletics. These days, I still try to stay active, mostly playing football and golf.
One of my proudest moments was training with the Welsh men’s football team at 14, even making it onto TV!
My Work at Pentagon Play
As Regional Sales Manager for the North West of England, specifically Cheshire and Merseyside, I work directly with schools and nurseries to help them maximise their outdoor space. I love delivering areas that support physical development and spark a lifelong love of sport. I’m especially passionate about redefining what outdoor provision can look like in the EYFS curriculum, leading to me creating spaces that help children thrive from day one.
