Special Needs Outdoor Playground Equipment
Our dedicated products team have consulted with SEN experts, teachers and children to design and perfect a fantastic selection of SEN Playground Equipment. With the intention to help children with special educational needs feel comfortable during a school day, the feedback from the children themselves has been invaluable!
As many children find free-flow, open-ended, physical play activities therapeutic, we have designed a brilliant range of playground equipment to provide children with regulatory, heavy work activities and breakout spaces in their playground.
Promoting self-regulation and providing therapeutic activities in the playground is important for any school catering towards children with SEN as they begin to understand how and when to calm themselves, recognising when they are becoming frustrated, overwhelmed or unfocused, children are able refocus themselves and become centred and ready for learning.
Designed with inclusivity in mind, our outdoor play equipment enables children of different abilities and ages to play and learn together, encouraging cooperation and socialisation in the playground.
Our expert SEN playground consultants are enthusiastic and dedicated to helping your transform your outdoor space to benefit your children. Working in collaboration with you and your children, they can help design and install an area that will improve children’s behavioural traits, emotional feelings, memory, sensory processing, communication, imagination, social interaction and sustained concentration.
Pentagon Play’s playground equipment for children with special educational needs is unlike anything else currently offered on the market and we are dedicated to continuously expanding the range and adapting our products to ensure they can be fully utilised by your children, no matter their ability. We love receiving feedback on our products and designs to help shape and perfect our range!

From the initial meeting with Rachel to discuss potential plans, and her subsequent visits to make sure our projects were exactly what we needed, we felt fully supported. Rachel had some lovely ideas which have worked out really well and the children and staff love them. What was an unused bit of the field has become a well-used all weather football pitch, and what was a muddy seating area has become an all-weather area with lovely benches and a super gazebo which can be used for somewhere quiet to sit, or an outdoor classroom... during the first few weeks of the autumn term it was also used as a meeting room on one occasion, versatility at its best! The installation was trouble free and we had constant communication from both the contractors on site and the wider team at Pentagon. I would thoroughly recommend them.Tina Button – The Wyvern School, Kent
We would have no problems in recommending Pentagon play to other schools and as a special school, we were really impressed with the level of knowledge and the desire to learn about our pupils and their needs.Grove Park School, East Sussex
The main objectives we wanted to achieve with the playground development was to create a space where children can play safely, could be active and could have a variety of experiences that they don't get outside of school. The development of a trim trail and exercise equipment ensured that all of these objectives were met, it has also ensured that children have a healthy and active lifestyle. It is a joy to watch how excited the children become when they are playing on the equipment. This area has also enabled the children to develop their social skills in terms of their ability to take turns, support each other, encourage and motivate each other to take risks and be more active. Working with Pentagon Play has been fantastic; they were nothing but professional and helpful. They were able to advise us on the best use of the land we have and the completed project is absolutely amazing!Jenny Campbell - Westminster Primary Academy and Children’s Centre, Blackpool
We have been looking to improve our Forest School area so that the children have more opportunity to explore, challenge themselves and learn about our natural environment. Pentagon Play provided us with an opportunity to do that and the children love exploring the new equipment.Knayton C of E Primary School, North Yorkshire
Excellent service, they have been really efficient. The installers, Jim and Dave, have been really polite hard workers and great Pentagon team membersTracy Doolen - Welbeck Primary School, Nottingham
I must say, the service from Pentagon was fantastic and their knowledge of EYFS was important when helping us to develop our new area. What was once a muddy and underused space, is now an attractive free flow environment with plenty of resources for play and learningChantal Lancashire - St Teresa's Catholic primary School, Bristol
