This is why they contacted Pentagon Play for support with their playground.

Their Objectives

Padfield had some very exciting goals for their project, but their main three were:

Must be suitable for full primary age range.

Must feature some form of active play that is different from their existing trails.

Would love to feature some Artificial Grass to brighten the space.

Enthusiastic Outdoor Learning Consultant, Dan Young, got to work on an exciting design straight away!

Our Approach

First thing first, Dan made sure that Padfield’s surfacing needs were fulfilled, incorporating a range of different surfacing styles into this area to really breathe some new life into the space.

Dan incorporated our luscious green Playturf Deluxe Artificial Grass, Blue Saferturf, Red Saferturf and Yellow Saferturf into this space, making this area look like a rainbow!

On top of this eye-catching surfacing sits a Bowfell Climber- A wooden climbing frame with rope handholds for support.

This adventurous climber offers pupils the ideal space to work on their hand-eye coordination, using their problem-solving skills to map out the safest route and employing their upper body strength to hold themselves up.

In addition to this, Dan also added a range of individual trim trail items that come together to form a bespoke trail for the pupils to explore.

This includes:

And, for those who need a breather after playing on all of this challenging equipment, they can take a seat on any of the 8 Perch Benches in this area, designed to offer a quiet space in a heaving play area!

The Results

The pupils will love this brand-new climbing area where they can have autonomy over their play, building their skills and mingling with their peers.

The beauty of this climbing equipment is that children can choose to follow the trail or navigate the climber independently, or they can work alongside their peers, building valuable friendships and exploring their skills.

This is such a bright, fun and engaging play space now after this recent re-design and we hope that Padfield Community School love it as much as we do!
