Project Overview
Found within the heart of the historic town of Crewe, Beechwood Primary School has made a name for themselves within the local community for providing one of the best learning environments for children to thrive in.
Seeking to further solidify this reputation, the primary school in Crewe started to wonder if their indoor EYFS classroom could be improved by introducing new and exciting classroom furniture.
Having a great relationship with Pentagon Play due to our previous work in helping the school completely transform their outdoor area, Sara (the Headteacher at Beechwood Primary) decided to browse our online shop and view the hundreds of indoor products that we offer.
Due to the maneuverability offered by the Millhouse range, Sara knew that Pentagon Play's indoor furniture range would not only help teachers in keeping their classroom adaptable and easy to recongfigure, but the furniture would also help maintain a sense of organisation and cleanliness, helping the children thrive more within the learning environment.
Excited to get the project underway, Sara quickly got in touch with Maddy McGuire (a Digital Sales & Operations Executive at Pentagon Play) to discuss her vision on creating an EYFS environment that Beechwood Primary School has never seen before!
The Challenge
Throughout the conversation with Sara, Maddy quickly noted one potential challenge with the project. The school was given a strict budget to adhere to, so the prices needed to be competitive enough for the project to go ahead.
Alongside this challenge, Sara also mentioned that the new furniture needed to perfectly suit the current indoor decor, providing a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor environments to establish a free-flowing atmosphere within the EYFS department.
The final challenge that was identified by Maddy was how quickly the school needed the new furniture. Sara had reached out during the summer holidays and was keen to have the new furniture set up before the start of the new academic year, ensuring that the new EYFS classes could get used to their new environment quickly.
With all of the main challenges highlighted, Maddy worked tirelessly to find solutions that would help Beechwood Primary build the EYFS classroom of their dreams whilst ensuring that the potential challenges highlighted wouldn't cause a problem.
The Process
Throughout the ordering process, Maddy was constantly looking for new ways to lower the prices of our indoor furniture range to help Beechwood Primary School acquire their dream furniture. After weeks of research and calculations, Maddy had finally figured out a way for the school to get all the equipment they wanted at an incredible price that no one in the industry could match.
Sara was blown-away by the price offered by Pentagon Play and quickly placed her order, hoping that the new furniture would arrive before the new academic year. Working closely with our suppliers and manufacturing team, Pentagon Play are able to offer our customers incredibly delivery times, with most customers receiving their new play equipment and furniture in 2-4 weeks from the initial order.
Whilst Sara waited for the new equipment to arrive, Maddy continued to maintain contact with the headteacher and provided her with expert opinions and suggestions on how to lay out the furniture to create a sense of free-flow between the indoor and outdoor areas, as well as how the school could get the most from their new equipment.
Unlike other companies in the industry, Pentagon Play go the extra step by providing our customers with some of the most well-informed and expert advice available within the industry. Due to this, our customers are always sure to get the most out of their new products and help their children flourish in ways that they've never seen before.
The Results
With the equipment being delivered on time and set up by our expert installation team, Sara was blown away yet again by the speed and quality offered by Pentagon Play. Maddy asked Sara if she would be interested in being featured on our case study series to highlight the impact our classroom furniture range has on children, and Sara was more than happier to welcome the Pentagon Play team back to the school on the second week of September.
Maddy and Sarah (our Social Media Specialist) visited Sara and the staff to see the Millhouse range in action. As the pair were walking towards the EYFS classroom, Sara mentioned how big of an impact the new furniture had on the classroom and how surprised she was that the transformation only required a few pieces of furniture.
Inside the classroom, both Maddy and Sarah were blown away to see how lively the classroom environment was. The school had placed each piece of furniture perfectly, creating a sense of free-flow throughout the classroom, whilst establishing a clear structure to the indoor environment too!
Walking around, Maddy and Sarah were able to identify the new pieces of furniture that were having a positive impact on the classroom:
- Two Millhouse Large Book Display Units were set up to create a beautiful reading corner that allowed children to escape into their favourite books with ease.
- A Millhouse Double Tier Mobile Circular Storage Unit with Baskets was placed within the classroom that acted as a great place for children to retrieve toys and other resources, whilst promoting organisation skills amongst the children.
- Three Millhouse Medium Tiered Shelf Units were placed around the classroom, allowing teachers to create engaging displays and organise learning materials in an eye-catching, yet effective, manner.
- A Millhouse Mobile Unit with a Top Mirror was also spotted, providing more space for children to store their equipment, whilst making a fantastic piece of sensory play equipment as children found themselves drawn towards their reflections.
- Three Millhouse Double-Sided Trolleys were placed around the EYFS classroom, allowing for arts and crafts materials to easily be stored at convenient locations for the children, ensuring that all the little ones have the opportunity to engage in creative play.
- A Millhouse Drying Rack was placed inside to allow children to dry their pieces of art quickly and effectively, allowing them to take home their creations to their families.
- A Millhouse Double-sided 2 Station Whiteboard Easel with Tall Storage Trolley provide the perfect place for children to explore their creative spirits and create their masterpieces with ease.
As the Pentagon Play duo walked towards the play area, Sara mentioned how the teachers felt that the new furniture had helped unify the classroom with their outdoor area, creating a seamless transition between the two environments, which helped children wind down quicker after an intense session of play time.
Heading outside, the team noticed the Millhouse Octagonal Tunnel placed with our Get Set Go Blocks and Climbers. Asking about the placement, the school staff mentioned how the piece of Millhouse play equipment perfectly suited our active play equipment range, so they decided to place it with the Pentagon Play equipment she got last year to create a more exciting and unique play space.
Reflection
Beechwood Primary School was an amazing client to work with from start to finish. Sara provided a variety of amazing ideas and our team made sure to help her bring her vision to life, whilst removing every possible obstacle in her way.
Even though the job was relatively small in scale, we believe that indoor furnishing jobs are some of the most important jobs for us to carry out due to the importance of a classroom in a child's education and how their learning environment can shape their experience.
Just like every single customer before Beechwood Primary, Sara and the team would have constant access to our amazing Digital Sales team, who will always be on hand to provide solutions and advice for any problems (if they should arise).
From everyone here at Pentagon Play, we wish the absolute best to Beechwood Primary School and we hope for years to come, thousands of EYFS children can experience the impact of high-quality classroom furniture!
