How Will You Spend Your Sports Premium?
Sports premium funding should be used to help schools continue to use physical education, sport and physical activity as a tool to improve educational attainment, emotional and physical health and wellbeing.
Our PE and Sport premium range ensures pupils leave primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle and commit to a lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.
To help your school navigate the minefield of what to spend your money on, we have created exclusive packages to help you decide.
Freestanding Sports Premium Equipment
Included within the Sports Premium Guidance document, the Department of Education state that the Sport Premium should not be used for anything classified as 'capital expenditure', which includes:
- MUGAs
- Daily Mile Tracks
- Forest School Environments
- Trim Trails
- Fixed Playground Equipment (e.g. climbing frames, play towers)
With this new rule being implemented for the 2023/24 Sport Premium budget, a lot of schools have been left confused on how they can spend their Sport Premium.
Following the guidelines laid out by the Department of Education, our design team has created a wide range of fantastic play equipment that helps children develop physically and qualifies as equipment that can be bought with the PE and Sport Premium!
There are so many exciting freestanding options that will achieve the following objectives:
- Increases engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity.
- Contributes to the improvement of the school as a whole by raising the profile of sports and PE.
- Builds knowledge of P.E and sport in staff so they confidently teach and share their understanding.
- Offers a variety of sports/ physical activity opportunities for all pupils.

Your team have been wonderful and have worked so hard. So polite and professional, really impressed. The paint is fantastic as a cost effective way to rid the grey and create impact, your idea is genius! Thanks so much.
The headmistress of the senior school came today and was speechless (in a good way !) a governor then appeared and I have been given a hugely positive reaction and request to say thank you on behalf of queens
Rachel Cookson - The Queen's Lower School, Chester
We are quite an outdoorsy school with extensive grounds and even in non-covid times, we wanted a facility where children can be outside in all weathers whether that’s at lunchtimes, to read, use as a library or as an intervention space. We also wanted somewhere where we could literally bring the children’s learning outdoors as we have a pond, an allotment and this seemed like a natural next step where children could go and do their work afterwards. With the addition of the benches, it also makes it feel like a real outdoor classroom and is multi-use which we are really happy with.
Chris Jackson – Avonwood Primary School, Dorset
"The lads were excellent, site left clean and tidy, really polite and friendly and would definitely use the lads again!"
Sam Cooke - Rosehill Methodist Primary School
It has been extremely positive, it is the first time I have worked with Pentagon and we are already in the process of talking about future projects.
Andrew Spens - St Helens - Thornbury
Thank you so much. I have to tell you that we are delighted as ever with the work and the children are beginning to enjoy the benefits of the new equipment. The artificial grass is open to all of them and they are enjoying mud-free access to the slope. Thank you to all the team.
Mel Adams – St Mary’s CE Primary School, Hertfordshire
Working with Pentagon has been a positive experience. The consultant working with our school was very clear in explaining the product and service they provide. Any issues or queries were dealt with in a timely manner and the consultant gave good advice and suggestions during the consultation and planning phase.
